OOTD, it’s a little bit chilly today and very over cast so I’m a little more covered up to head out to town shopping.

White privilege is living on stolen land, and having the arrogance to say “Go back to where you came from”.

- “I saw you staring at my titties. But that’s okay, boy. That’s what they there for.”
- “I’ve seen better.”
Rewatching Carnivale tonight. I love Rita Sue so muuuch

My favorite threat of all time.

(tw: lack of consent)
That was probably a super awful way to put it and I apologize to everyone.
What I meant was the epic lack of consent involved in all the love spell plots. Like with Gwen and Lancelot with the bracelet and Arthur and the princess.
The lack of consent in these situations is never acknowledge and in the case with Arthur is played for giggles.
But yeah, I could have chosen my words waaaaay better.

(tw: I mention rape a few times. And rape culture.)
For you Anon. And I don’t hate Merlin I just acknowledge that it is very low quality and Angel Coubly deserves better.
Just the things off the top of my head:
The writing is terrible.
The plot is terrible.
Merlin who spends all of his time protecting a man who committed/continues to commit genocide is portrayed as a morally good person.
Arthur who spends his time helping his father commit genocide, kills peaceful druids, threatened the life of a child and is a misogynist is portrayed as a morally good person.
It grossly under uses its female characters.
All women with magic, and thus power and portrayed as bad, mentally unstable people.
Because Gwen was subjected to the PG version of rape and it was never acknowledged.
Because Arthur and that one princess whose name I can’t remember were also subjected to the PG version of rape. And because the love spell was broken for Arthur but not for the princess who will spend the rest of her life hopelessly in love with Arthur and it was played for laughs.
In fact anything that in loves love spells being played for laughs is awful and contributing to rape culture.
Because the way they handled Morgana’s arc WAS/IS SUPER FUCKING AWFUL IN EVERY WAY OH MY GOD.
Because there is a fuck ton of queer baiting for the slash fans without any actual representation. Unless you count the creepy ass king who said he would like to get in on with Arthur and we were supposed to be disgusted by this.
Because the bad guys that worked for Cenred wore turbans and it was racially very problematic.
Does anyone else have anything to add?
Do you want the short version or the book length version, Anon?
